“When it was time for the baby to come Joy really showed why we needed her. She was with us almost continually through 58 hours of labour. Coaching, gently giving advice, calming us, and always being a positive and great sounding board when we had concerns. The labour eventually ended in a c section, with Joy right there holding my wife's hand and softly helping her through the traumatic experience. Only after helping with the first breastfeeding and close to 55 hours after we called her did she leave, exhausted. Could we have made it through without Joy's help? Of course people have done it for thousands of years. However, when things went wrong, when we were concerned, when we didn't know what to do, Joy was there. When we needed support, when tough choices had to be made, and emotions took hold, Joy was there. Looking back, if everything had gone perfectly I would still want Joy there. With things going wrong we needed her and she was amazing. I am not eloquent enough to describe how important Joy was in the birth of our child and how much we recommend her to others. She is exceptional.”
