Placenta Encapsulation

FAQs

General FAQs

  • The placenta is an organ that connects the growing fetus to the uterine wall to allow nutrient uptake, waste elimination, and gas exchange via the mother’s blood supply.

  • Placenta encapsulation is the act of preparing the placenta for consumption by by turning it into a powder and placing into capsules.

  • The placenta is not a filter that traps things like an air filter. Rather, waste and other things that baby can’t use are sent back to the mother through the placenta and her body disposes of it like any other waste in her body. Smoking does cause a build up of heavy metal in the placenta making it unsafe to consume.

  • Your placenta is NOT suitable for consumption if you develop an infection during labor called chorioamnionitis (commonly referred to as "chorio").

  • Baby blues are caused by an extreme change in a woman’s body after having a baby. While pregnant a woman’s body is producing many hormones that otherwise would not be, as soon as the woman has the baby the body abruptly stops producing those hormones causing a drop in hormonal levels. It’s a mild depression lasting a few hours, a few days, or even a few weeks. About 50% of woman that give birth experience baby blues. Symptoms can consist of feeling emotionally unstable ( i.e. crying, feeling mildly anxious and tense, feeling worried and not being able to sleep).

Postpartum depression may also cause you to have difficulties caring for and bonding with your baby. The cause for PPD can be a combination of hormonal, biochemical, environmental, psychological, and genetic factors. Postpartum depression can last weeks up to years.

Product FAQs

  • The amount of pills you get depends completely on the size of your placenta! Typically, most clients get between 110 - 130. Though I have seen as few as 75 and even over 200!

  • A placenta tincture is made with high quality organic gluten-free vodka and is allowed to steep for at least 6 weeks. You can then use the tincture from the bottle or you can filter it. A tincture has an indefinite shelf life, making it a great resource to prolong the benefits of your placenta to be used during premenstrual, menopausal, or other hormonal times.

  • The Herbal Soak are sitzbath herbs that speed recovery time and alleviate soreness after birth. The herbs gathered for this mixture help to soothe tender perineal tissue, heal tears and episiotomies, reduce inflammation, and even shrink hemorrhoids after a vaginal birth. Also Available: Post Cesarean Foot Soak!

  • The print is made using the natural blood of your placenta and made on watercolor paper. The paper is placed on top of the fetal side of the placenta, which essentially stamps the paper.

I also offer a Colorful Print, which is prepared similarly to the Natural Placenta Print, only, I use food-safe gel to trace the elements on your placenta to create a colorful representation.

  • The umbilical cord that connected baby to the placenta is dehydrated in a shape which you can keep as a keepsake.
